Ukraine plans to enter new agricultural markets after losing visa-free trade with the EU

As part of the updated export strategy, Ukraine plans to enter new markets after losing visa-free trade with the EU - such opportunities are currently being explored.

Today, Ukrainian agricultural exports are $24.5 billion per year. And Polish agricultural exports are $56 billion. Because the average price of a ton exported by Ukraine is $309, and in Poland it is $1,560. This is due to the fact that in the EU they process products and export them with added value, while Ukraine sells grain abroad with almost no processing.

The largest European importers of Ukrainian agricultural products in the 2024/2025 marketing year (MY) were Spain, the Netherlands, Italy and Germany. The total volume of agricultural imports to these countries reached over $6 billion: Spain – $2.7 billion, the Netherlands – $1.6 billion; Italy – $1.3 billion; Germany – $1.2 billion.

Since the beginning of the 2024/25 MY, Ukraine has exported 40.04 million tons of grain and leguminous crops, of which almost 1.67 million tons have been shipped since the beginning of the current month. In particular, since the beginning of the current season, 15.56 million tons of wheat have been exported (in the 2023/24 MY - 18.12 million tons), corn - 21.56 million tons of corn (28.41 million tons - in the previous MY).
