In May 2025, Ukraine imported 77,500 tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), a 27% increase from April but 8% less than in May 2024. This is the highest volume since September 2024.
The number of importers increased by 12% from April, reaching 86 companies.
“BRSM-Nafta” led with 10,000 tons, though this was 10% less than in April. “Nadezhda” and “Avantage” took second and third places, boosting their imports by 90% to 7,100 tons and 93% to 6,900 tons, respectively. While “Avantage” had previously ranked in the top three this year, this was “Nadezhda’s” first time since September 2024.
Most LPG continued to arrive by sea. Deliveries to southern terminals via the Danube River remained nearly stable at 35,000 tons (+2% from April). Road deliveries increased by 50% to 29,300 tons, with Romania (10,700 tons, +61% from April) and Lithuania (9,800 tons, +24%) leading.
The largest growth was in rail deliveries, which increased by 90% to 13,300 tons – the highest since September 2024, driven by “Nadezhda’s” purchases.
High LPG imports in May created a significant market surplus, forcing producers to cut prices and traders to sell with minimal or no margins.
