Ukraine has imported “borshch” vegetables for $152 million in six months

In January-June 2025, Ukraine has imported potatoes, carrots, beets, cabbage and onions for a total of $152 million.

The largest increase in potato supplies was 7.9 times, to 121.6 thousand tons. It was purchased for $65.1 million, which is 6.9 times more than last year. The largest supplier was Poland – 36.5% ($23.8 million), followed by Egypt (13.7%, $8.9 million) and the Netherlands (11.7%, $7.6 million).

Cabbage imports increased 2.5 times – to 47.3 thousand tons. Ukraine spent $42.1 million on it (2.4 times more than last year). The main suppliers are Macedonia (33.3%, $14 million), Poland (24.9%, $10.5 million) and the Netherlands (13.5%, $5.7 million).

Onions were imported almost as much as last year – 15.7 thousand tons (−1.1%), but the cost of purchases increased to $17.7 million against $15.5 million. The largest suppliers: China ($4.8 million), Egypt ($3.8 million) and the Netherlands ($3.3 million).

Import of carrots, beets and celery increased 7.9 times – to 43.1 thousand tons. They spent $27.1 million on their purchase against $4.36 million a year earlier. The largest suppliers were Poland (47%, $12.8 million), Moldova (14%, $3.7 million) and the Netherlands (12%, $3.2 million).
