Ukraine among the top-3 suppliers of soybean meal to the EU

As of May 4, 2025, the total import volume of soybean meal to the EU reached 15.77 million tonnes in the 2024/25 season, a 24% increase year-on-year, surpassing the total for the entire 2023/24 season (15.7 million tonnes). Brazil remains the largest supplier of soybean meal to the EU. By early May 2025, its imports were 7.9 million tonnes, a 2.7% increase from 7.69 million tonnes in the same period last year. However, its share decreased from 60.4% last year to 50.1% this year.

Argentina, the second-largest supplier, provided 5.73 million tonnes of soybean meal, a 119% increase from 2.61 million tonnes in the same period last year. Ukraine, the third-largest supplier, delivered 760,000 tonnes of soybean meal to the EU, an increase from 430,000 tonnes in the same period last year. The country’s share increased from 3.4% to 4.8%.
