Ukraine exports more butter in 5 months than in all of 2024

Ukraine is rapidly increasing its exports of dairy products, particularly butter, to EU countries.

In the first five months of 2025, Ukraine’s dairy product exports exceeded $25 million, surpassing the totals for the entire years of 2023 ($15 million) and 2024 ($17 million).

The primary growth is attributed to exports to the EU, particularly butter and skimmed milk powder (SMP).

In May 2025, 58% of all butter exported from Ukraine was shipped to the EU.

In May, Ukraine exported nearly 3,000 tons of butter and almost 4,000 tons of SMP, indicating record-high shipment volumes. The share of SMP exports to the EU also increased: while it was 66% in 2024, it increased to over 70% in 2025.
