Ukraine has restored duty-free sugar shipments to the EU: agricultural sector expands exports

Since January 1, 2025, Ukrainian producers have gained access to the EU market thanks to new agreements on trade liberalization. This step has opened up the opportunity for Ukraine to export larger volumes of sugar to the European market without additional tariffs, which previously restrained the growth of shipments.

“The opening of the EU market is an important event for our industry. Contracts for export to Europe are just beginning to be signed, but we expect significant growth in this direction by February-March. In January, we actively exported sugar to Turkey and African countries, but the European market is gradually becoming a priority”, noted the analytical department of the FUAC cooperative.

In the coming months, the share of European shipments in the export will increase, which, in turn, will positively affect the Ukrainian economy.
